JA is celebrating our partnership with Prologis, a company that is dedicated to preserving the American spirit through JA’s educational programs for young people. Prologis recently announced a $100,000 gift to JA in honor of Walt Rakowich’s retirement.
As Prologis’ long-time leader, Walt leaves a legacy of not only taking the real estate investment trust giant to record achievements, but also spearheading the partnership between Prologis and JA in Denver a decade ago.
Prologis supports hundreds of community activities and social causes across its footprint. In 2012, Prologis donated more than $1.4 million in cash and in-kind donations to charities and organizations in need. Community engagement activities have included environmental cleanup activities in Japan and volunteering at food banks throughout the United States. In addition to donating time and money, Prologis provides full-time employees three paid days off each year to volunteer in their communities.
JA is honored to count Prologis as a supporter. To date, Prologis has contributed $600,000 and has been a JA top-tier funder the past four years. The company has dedicated 47,250 total volunteer hours that reached nearly 6,000 students. Prologis adopted Sable Elementary School in Aurora ten years ago, serving as role models to all students, in addition to all of the other great support Prologis provides directly such as backpacks and coats for the students. Prologis enabled JA to develop curriculum enhancements for three programs that teach students about the importance of sustainability, a value practiced and promoted by Prologis.
