What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
A third-party service called Constant Contact is used for contact and inquiry forms on the JA website. Information you enter into these forms is stored by Constant Contact under JA’s account and is only accessible to JA staff and Constant Contact tech support. This information is used to provide you with a better, more relevant customer experience.
Information from contact forms may also be stored in Blackbaud CRM, a third party cloud based CRM service. This information is only accessible to JA staff, JA-USA staff, and tech support at Blackbaud. This information is used to provide you with a better, more relevant customer experience.
Cookies
If you leave a comment or submit a form on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that help us improve our Services and your experience, see which areas and features of our Services are popular, and count visits. For example, we partner with third-party analytics providers, like Google, which set cookies when you visit our website. This helps us understand how you are using our Services so that we can improve them and provide a better user experience.
You have a number of options to control or limit how we use cookies and similar technologies.
- Although most browsers and devices accept cookies by default, their settings usually allow you to clear or decline cookies. If you disable cookies, however, some of the features of our services may not function properly.
- To prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
- To opt out of ads on Facebook, Pinterest, or Google that are targeted to your interests, use your Facebook, Pinterest, or Google Ads settings.
- Check your mobile device for settings that control ads based on your interactions with the applications on your device. For example, on your iOS device, enable the “Limit Ad Tracking” setting, and on your Android device, enable the “Opt out of Ads Personalization” setting.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
Junior Achievement does not share or sell visitor or customer data to other entities. However, third parties may collect data through cookies, as described above in the section called “Cookies.”
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment or submit a form, the data may be retained indefinitely. This is so we can properly follow up with you with relevant information and provide you with a better customer experience. Comments are retained so we may recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or submitted a form, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
