A record number of students from 44 area high schools competed in this year’s JA Stock Market Challenge, presented by Great West-Great-Teachers, a program of Great-West Financial. Students got some hands on experience with investment strategies, carefully playing the game in order to win. To achieve success, they applied the knowledge they learned from 48 JA volunteers who taught JA Take Stock in Your Future in their classes before the event.

Net Worth: $903,335.58 Growth: 80.70%
3rd Place: Grandview High School Team 3
Net Worth: $875,957. 12 Growth: 75.20%

JA Stock Market Challenge sponsors, including presenting sponsor Great-West Great-Teachers, a program of Great-West Financial; Wells Fargo Advisors; AAA Colorado; and Husch Blackwell enable JA to provide the student event to participating schools at no cost.
The event is also supported by a corporate fundraising version of the JA Stock Market Challenge that was held November 7. The corporate event raised over $225,000 and engaged more than 400 adults in competing for the highest net worth and highest portfolio growth. In the end, SM Energy took home the trophy for highest net worth ending with a portfolio worth more than $6 million. The Hanover Insurance team was recognized for their 156% rate of growth.
